A completely new CG animation movie based on “PUI PUI Molcar”, “PUI PUI Molcar The Movie MOLMAX”, will be released on November 29, 2024. The trailer and main visual for this film have been unveiled. In addition, dubbing photos of Aiba Masaki and Otsuka Akio, who are the voice actors for the human characters, have also been received.
“PUI PUI Molcar” is a stop-motion animation that features healing, friendship, adventure, and crazy action in a world where guinea pigs have become cars, and the “Molcars” unfold. Since its broadcast began in 2021, the show’s innovative world view, characters, and dynamic visuals have captivated children and adults alike thanks to its cuteness and the unique fact that actual guinea pigs are the voice actors. The new series “PUI PUI Molcar DRIVING SCHOOL”, which aired in 2022, also received positive reviews, sparking a global “Molcar boom”.
“PUI PUI Molcar The Movie MOLMAX” was announced in January 2024 as a completely new CG animation film. It will be directed by Mankyu, who has worked on “Sumikko Gurashi Movie: The Pop-up Picture Book and the Secret Child,” and the script will be written by Yuko Kakihara, who worked on the “Chihayafuru” series and the “Cells at Work!” series. Tomoki Misato, who was the original creator and director of the first season of the TV series, will be involved as the general supervisor, delivering a more powerful world of Molcar.
The trailer, which has just been unveiled, shows the Molcars having fun, and begins with the CEO of Menimeni Eyes Company, voiced by Aiba Masaki, loudly announcing the birth of the AI Molcar, saying, “A new Molcar has been born!” With the arrival of the AI Molcar, who works 24 hours a day without eating vegetables, drivers are increasingly switching to the AI Molcar, and the high-tech era has finally arrived in Mol City!
Meanwhile, Potato and his friends meet the AI Molcar “Kanon” and the driver of Dodge, played by Akio Otsuka, who is searching for Dodge, a Molcar from his “family” who suddenly disappeared. He says, “There’s been an increase in the number of Molcars that have gone missing recently,” and the story suddenly takes a thrilling turn. Is this a crime? Or a conspiracy by Hatamata Inbou?
Using Kanon’s AI function, the Potatoes set out on a journey to find the missing Molcars. They search through the ruins of the jungle, and finally leave Earth and head out onto the surface of the moon, but will the fussy Molcars be able to find the Driver’s precious family?
You can see the brave figure of Potato running through “MOLMAX” and many Molcars, but this work is still shrouded in mystery. The work is finished with a swirl of expectations and excitement for the largest Molmission in history, presented on a transcendent scale.
The main visual released at the same time shows the five cars Potato, Shiromo, Abby, Choco, and Teddy, all looking happy and wearing sunglasses, along with the Dodge driver, Kanon, and many other AI Molcars gathered together. If you look closely, you can even make out “that” Molcar. Behind them are the CEO and employees of the Meni Meni Eyes Company. While hinting at an epic story, the main visual is packed with the cute charms of the Molcars, raising expectations.
