[Video] Abukuma Shi-nyudo appears! “Rurouni Kenshin” Season 2 Episode 2
In episode 26 “Meiji Tokaido”, the second episode of season 2, Abukuma Shi Nyudo (CV: Okumura Sho, CV: Kobatake Masafumi, CV: Abe Soichi, CV: Kiyan Kazuki), a messenger of Shishio Makoto (CV: Furukawa Makoto), appears.
The Abukuma Four Nyudo looked a little frightened when Shinomori Soji (voiced by Uchida Yuuma) glared at them and said, “If you continue to defile this land, I will not only cut down you, but also this Shishio.” However, in the end, he replied with a bold “Don’t get too cocky just because I’m a little skilled, kid!” and all four of them went towards Soji, saying, “We, the Four Nyudo, have no blind spots!”
In the original manga, the Abukuma Four Nyudo were easily defeated by Soshi, leaving a strong impression of being pushovers. However, in this anime version, detailed battle scenes have been added, including their “instantaneous four-body-as-one” attacks that make use of their teamwork. Long-time Rurouni Kenshin fans seemed delighted by the unexpected performance of the Abukuma Four Nyudo. The internet was abuzz with comments such as “I’m glad he was able to use his technique!!”, “Abukuma Four Nyudo is so loved lol”, “He had a long scene”, and “So nostalgic lol. The pushover lol”.
The anime “Rurouni Kenshin” is based on the manga “Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story” by Watsuki Nobuhiro, which has sold over 72 million copies in total. The new TV anime series, with a completely new staff and cast, will air its first season in July 2023, with the second season, “Kyoto Disturbance,” starting in October 2024. Set in early Meiji-era Japan, the story depicts the battles of Himura Kenshin (CV: Saito Soma), once feared as the “Battousai the Assassin.”
