Kaito Ishikawa gives life advice to Shoutarou Morikubo on his birthday special… Reveals the voice actor of the same generation he is jealous of: “I’m jealous of Taku Yashiro”

On Wednesday, October 9th, from 10pm, ABEMA aired “A Night Out with Voice Actors Wednesday [Morikubo Shoutarou x Ishikawa Kaito] #20.”

The broadcast included a “Celebrating Kaito Ishikawa’s Birthday! Drive Talk Special” for Ishikawa, who turns 31 on October 13. Morikubo and Ishikawa had a candid conversation in the car, alone with no staff present.

Regarding the plan, in which Morikubo would drive and the two of them would have a conversation in the car alone, Ishikawa said, “That’s when you’re most likely to be honest! It’s scary.”

As soon as they get in the car, they begin a candid conversation about the changes that have occurred since they turned 30, the differences between what they imagined 30-year-olds would be like in their 20s and their current state, and their vision for the future.

Meanwhile, Ishikawa also confided in the reporter that she is struggling with a work-life balance. Though she wants to have a more fulfilling private life, another part of her says, “Do I really have enough time to spare for my private life, even if it means reducing the number of auditions I take,” and “It does get intimidating. Do I have time for hobbies that don’t relate to work? Do I have the time to use the time I can use to win elsewhere?” Ishikawa says that she is unable to pursue the hobbies she wants because she is always thinking about her work.

Seeing Ishikawa’s workaholic side, Morikubo firmly replied, “I think you should be more honest,” and “Nothing is a waste.”

“There was a time when I used to go out drinking alone, but I never thought of it as a waste. I would use it as an excuse to go and think of it as practicing free talk, but it was meaningful to me, and others might think it was a meaningless time, but that time and the people you spend time with there can lead to work later on, even if not directly,” he said, sharing his own experience, and offered some advice, “As an actor, Ishikawa Kaito, if you don’t take in a variety of different things, you won’t have anything to offer,” “If you’re thinking of staying in this industry for the long term, you should think of time for your hobbies as time you need now,” and “It’s better to have fun. Your 30s are much more fun!”

As Ishikawa’s drinking continued, he even confided feelings of jealousy towards a voice actor of the same generation.

“I’m jealous of Yashiro Taku!” he revealed. “He’s been recognized by Morikubo-san, isn’t he? The way he handles guests on his solo radio show is truly godlike, he’s fast at making jokes when it’s time to make jokes, and he’s got a lot going for him.” “In my mid-20s, I also thought, ‘I can’t lose at acting.’ But (Yashiro-kun) said, ‘Acting is what I want to do,’ and he worked really hard, and he’s started getting tons of roles! He really lives up to his word and is a really cool guy. That’s why I can’t help but envy him right now,” he said, praising Yashiro with jealousy.

Ishikawa continued, “It’s annoying me! The guy who originally earned the trust of Morikubo-san, who is my partner now, has also earned the trust of Yasumoto-san on Mondays. I’ve been receiving help from Yasumoto Hiroki-san since I was 19 years old! And yet, when I’m with Yasumoto-san all he says is ‘Taku, Taku’…I can’t forgive him!” Ishikawa revealed his jealousy, to which Morikubo burst out laughing, saying, “You’ve really been lonely.”

Ishikawa then responded with a brazen response, “I’m really lonely over here!”, and the whole car erupted in laughter again.

After that, the life advice to Morikubo did not stop, and while having a deep talk, the car went to the usual destination, the studio. There, Morikubo read a letter to Ishikawa, and Ishikawa was slightly moved to tears.

The two spent the full 90 minutes sharing their true feelings, and viewers commented, “It was an amazing birthday special,” “Their conversation really touched my heart,” “The letter had me in tears,” and “I love this duo.”
