A collaboration between the TV anime “Gintama” and “Lawson Store 100” has been announced. From October 23, 2024, collaboration food, merchandise featuring original illustrations, soft drinks with stickers, and more will be sold in stores.
“Gintama” is a TV anime and theatrical anime series based on the manga by Hideaki Sorachi. Set in Edo, where values suddenly change due to the invasion of the Tenjin (aliens), it boasts enduring popularity as a thrilling entertainment packed with hilarious gags and action, as well as human feelings and bonds.
In December 2024, the exhibition “Gintama 20th Anniversary Exhibition – Gathering of the 20th” will begin a nationwide tour in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.
The TV anime series was broadcast from 2006 to 2013, with the 367th episode coming to an end in October 2018. Theatrical versions of the anime were also released, including “Gintama: The Movie – The New Benizakura Arc” in 2010, “Gintama: The Movie – The Final Chapter – Be Forever Yorozuya” written by the original author Sorachi Hideaki in 2013, and “Gintama: The Final”, which depicts the end of the original work, in 2021.
In the collaboration with Lawson Store 100, the main character Gintoki Sakata, the members of Yorozuya, Toshiro Hijikata, Elizabeth and the other seven members gather together. It is a newly drawn illustration of them cheering on the others.
The collaborative food items sold in stores include a variety of items inspired by scenes from the series, such as “Gin-san’s Uji Gintoki Ohagi,” which is based on the “Uji Gintoki Bowl” menu item from the series, and “Kagura’s Tamago Kake Gohan-Style Rice Balls,” which Kagura makes when it’s her turn to cook.
Some interesting foods will also be available, such as “Shinpachi’s Glasses Bread,” inspired by Shinpachi’s glasses, and “Hijikata’s Yakisoba Bread for Mayonnaise Lovers,” which is so covered in mayonnaise that even mayonnaise-loving Hijikata Toshiro would be pleased with the yakisoba.
The lineup also includes items that are easy to eat with one hand, such as “Okita’s Spicy Rice Ball,” inspired by Okita Sougo, whose sister loves spicy food, and “Elizabeth’s Cream Bun,” which features a cute Elizabeth branding.
As for sweets, snacks with cards featuring original illustrations will be available. There are seven normal types and one secret type, and you will be randomly chosen to win one of them. The card is french fries, and the flavor is sour cream.
Additionally, the “Otsuka Pharmaceutical Pocari Sweat Ion Water 500ml”, “Iyemon Kyoto Lemonade 525ml” and “BEANS & ROASTERS Cafe Latte Can 375g” will come with a set of stickers featuring original illustrations and memorable scenes from the anime as neck-hanging prizes. These are available while stocks last, so be quick if you come across them.
The store will also be selling original merchandise, including 5 types of goods such as acrylic stands, badges, and trading clear cards.
