It has been announced that the TV anime “Detective Conan” will air a special collaboration episode, “The Ranpo House Murder Case,” on November 16th and 23rd. This dream collaboration will commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Edogawa Ranpo, a novelist known as a pioneer of serious mystery and horror novels in Japan.
“The Ranpo House Murder Case” is a special collaboration episode that celebrates the 130th anniversary of the birth of Edogawa Ranpo, and is a dream collaboration between Edogawa Ranpo and Edogawa Conan. The story will be set at the former Edogawa Ranpo House over two weeks on November 16th and 23rd.
The story begins with Conan and the Detective Boys visiting the Ranpo residence accompanied by Mr. Kobayashi. The storehouse that Ranpo used as a library is filled with a large number of valuable books, which excites Conan and the others. Detectives Sato and Takagi then visit and tell them that a murder has occurred in a nearby park. Furthermore, it seems that the victim’s belongings are related to the storehouse, which is usually closed to the public… The modern-day Detective Boys are tasked with solving this difficult case.
The script will be written by Takahiro Okura, who also wrote the script for the hit movie “Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Five-Point Star.” In addition to this work, Okura has also written scripts for many other Conan films, including “Crimson Love Letter,” “The Fist of Blue Sapphire,” and “Halloween Bride.” Attention will be focused on how Conan and the Detective Boys will perform at the Ranpo Mansion.
In commemoration of this special collaboration, a special visual based on a portrait of Edogawa Ranpo was also released. With the portrait in the background, Conan is posing in the same way as Ranpo and smiling fearlessly, giving the impression of a collaboration that transcends time. This special visual will also be on display at the ytv animation booth at the Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair (KyotoMaf) 2024, which will be held in Kyoto on September 21st and 22nd.
