It has been announced that the film “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: The Lonely Dragon” produced by Kyoto Animation will be released in theaters in 2025. In conjunction with this, a teaser visual and a promotional video for the release have been unveiled.

Dragon Maid: The Lonely Dragon is a new movie produced by Kyoto Animation, following the first season of the TV anime in 2017 and the second season, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, in 2021.
The teaser visual released along with the announcement shows Kanna holding someone’s hand and leaving somewhere, along with the meaningful line, “Bye-bye, Kobayashi.” This is a different image from the previous Maid Dragon images.
The film will be directed by Ishihara Tatsuya, who also directed Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S. Ishihara commented, “Kanna, Kobayashi, Thor and the others will jump off the TV and run wild all over the screen!” Additionally, Tamura Mutsumi will play Kobayashi, a single office worker who is full of love for maids, Kuwahara Yuki will play Thor, whose life was saved by Kobayashi and who decided to live with her as a maid because she loves her so much, and Naganawa Maria will continue to play Kanna, a dragon girl who was banished from her flock of dragons because she loved to play pranks and came to Kobayashi’s house.
The fact that the film will be released in theaters was announced during the Kyoto Animation 2025 New Release Presentation, which was streamed on Kyoto Animation’s official YouTube channel. There is also a congratulatory video comment from Tamura, Kuwabara, and Naganawa, so be sure to check it out. In addition, to commemorate the theatrical release, it has been announced that the Blu-ray Box for the second season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S will be released on March 26, 2025. In addition to all 12 episodes of the TV series and the episode not broadcast on TV, “Nippon no Omotenashi (Attendance is a Dragon),” it will also include “Mini Dora” as a video bonus. It will be a must-check to prepare for the movie or to review it.

Making an anime is hard, so I wonder if a third season is really that difficult…?
The fans seem to be willing to wait forever! Or so I thought, but to my surprise, there’s a Maid Dragon movie!!! It was so unexpected that I was shocked (lol). When I saw the teaser visual, it had a very serious atmosphere…! Does that mean it’s not the usual warm everyday kind of thing? They’re saying goodbye to Kobayashi-san!? What does that mean!? I was in a panic. But if the fans have good intuition…see, you’ll understand, right? That’s what it seems to be! I’m really looking forward to reading the script! Everyone, please look forward to the release too!!
“Hey humans! I’ve come to see you again!!” I could picture Thor’s face. The powerful battle scenes, the delicate changes in the characters’ expressions… No matter how many times I watch Maid Dragon, I always find something new, and it is so carefully and minutely made.
