The 23rd episode (12th episode of the 2nd season) of the TV anime “Oshi no Ko” (My Favorite Child) titled “Reunion” aired on September 25th. The subtitle “Reunion” leads to a very cruel plot twist, and it became a hot topic on social media, with people asking “Is that what reunion means!?”

“Oshi no Ko” is a TV anime based on a manga that has sold over 18 million copies, and is a completely new take on the entertainment world, created by the luxurious team of Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo. One day, Goro, an obstetrician-gynecologist working in a provincial city, has a “terrible” encounter with Ai, an idol of his “oshi” (favorite) “B Komachi,” who has a forbidden secret, and his fate begins to move.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2023, creating a buzz. The second season, which began airing on July 3, 2024, will focus on the aftermath of Aqua, Kana Arima, and Akane Kurokawa, who have been confirmed to appear in a 2.5-dimensional stage adaptation of the series’ work, “Tokyo Blade.”
The 22nd episode, which aired last week, became a hot topic due to the mysterious man who appeared in the last scene. Related words became trending topics on X, creating a lot of excitement.
In this episode 23, Aqua, Ruby, Kana, MEMcho, and Akane come to Miyazaki for a trip to film B-Komachi’s music video and to promote the stage production of “Tokyo Blade.” Miyazaki is where Aqua and Ruby were born, and where their previous lives, Goro and Sarina, once lived and died.
The five were welcomed by MEMcho’s friend, Anemone Monemone, an Instagrammer and video creator. It was revealed that Yukana would be playing the role of Anemone, and on social media there were comments such as “Oh, it was Yukana!” and “Our interpretations matched perfectly.”
Afterwards, B Komachi and Aqua & Akane split up, and Aqua headed to the hospital where she was born, saying “There’s a place I want to go.” However, her close friend, the nurse, was not there, and no one seemed to know anything about Goro when she asked.
He then visits the cliff where he was pushed off and the house where he was born and raised. He talks to Akane about Goro’s situation, treating him as a “close friend.”
Meanwhile, B-Komachi is busy shooting a music video. After finishing up, Ruby and Akane head back to the inn, but on the way back, a crow steals the inn key. While chasing it, Ruby reveals to Akane that she has feelings for Goro, without mentioning his name.
Ruby dreams of one day becoming a famous idol and reuniting with Goro. “I want to see him again…” The moment she had this thought, she discovered what seemed to be a crow’s nest.
What lies ahead is a skeleton of a corpse. The corpse is wearing a white lab coat, and on the nameplate on its chest is Ai’s keychain, which Sarina had given to Goro.
This week’s episode ended with a shocking final scene as well, with comments on social media such as, “Is that what they mean by a reunion?!”, “This is too cruel,” and “Is this going to be Ruby’s revenge story…?”. A “mysterious girl” even made an appearance, with comments such as, “Who is this girl?!”, “I didn’t know who the voice actress was,” and “I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
