The Akihabara International Film Festival 2024, which will promote anime movies and the charms of Akihabara both domestically and internationally, has been decided to be held for the first time. It will be held in the Akihabara area from November 9th to 11th, 2024, and popular actors and voice actors will gather at the red carpet ceremony at Kanda Myojin Shrine.
The Akihabara International Film Festival 2024 was launched in Akihabara, one of Japan’s leading pop culture centers, with the aim of promoting anime movies and the charms of Akihabara both domestically and internationally.
Over the three days from November 9th to 11th, 2024, various events will be held, including a red carpet, opening ceremony, premiere screening, special screening, talk show, and short anime competition.
The opening film of this event has been decided to be “The Eight Commandments”. “The Eight Commandments”, directed by Taiwanese director Chiu Li-wei, is an animated film based on Journey to the West. It won the Best Animated Feature Film award at last year’s Golden Horse Awards and the Best Animation award at the Taipei Film Festival this year. The main cast of this film will be played by Shu Guang-han, who is also popular in Japan.
In addition, the “Short Anime Competition” will be accepting anime works of 15 minutes or less from around the world, and the works selected by the judges will be screened at the Akihabara International Film Festival. An awards ceremony will be held at the closing ceremony, and winning creators will be offered various opportunities.
Please check the website for details such as how to apply.
