It has been decided that a second movie and a fourth season of the TV anime “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” will be produced. This was announced after the final episode of the third season of the TV anime “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” aired, and an illustration announcing the production and a teaser trailer were also released.
“Tensura” or “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” is an entertainment about reincarnation in another world, where the protagonist is reincarnated as a slime in another world and uses the skills he has acquired to increase the number of his companions with wisdom and courage. It is based on the comic adaptation of the popular novel of the same name by Fuse, which exceeded 1 billion page views on the novel submission site “Let’s Become a Novelist”. The total number of related books published worldwide, including comics, novels, and spin-off works, has exceeded 45 million copies as of February 21, 2024.
The anime series has been developed since the first season aired from October 2018 to March 2019. In 2021, the first part of the second season of the anime aired from January to March, the spin-off comic’s anime adaptation “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Slime Diaries” aired from April to June, and the second part of the second season of the anime aired from July to September, for nine consecutive months. In November 2022, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Crimson Bonds” was released nationwide, becoming a huge hit with over 1 million domestic viewers and box office revenue of 1.4 billion yen.
As part of the “Tensei Slime 10th Project” commemorating the 10th anniversary of the start of serialization of the web novel “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,” a completely new anime “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Dream of Corius,” a total of three episodes, will begin streaming on November 1, 2023. The third season of the TV anime, which began airing in April 2024, has depicted Rimuru’s new challenge of identifying true allies and enemies and pursuing the ideal of the “Humans and Demons Co-Prosperity Sphere.”
The decision to produce a second movie and a fourth season of the anime was announced after the broadcast of episode 72 (episode 24 of season 3), the final episode, on September 27th on Nippon Television. The illustration announcing the production shows Rimuru with a determined look on his face, but what is reflected in his eyes? The
teaser video also shows a sudden big announcement in a usual scene, with lines from Rimuru and the King of Wisdom recorded especially for the teaser.
Let’s look forward to further news on both the second movie and the fourth season of the TV anime.
