A collaboration project to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime “ONE PIECE” is currently being held at “Kura Sushi” restaurants nationwide. It has been announced that the new collaboration menu items “Melamera no Mi Ice Monaka” and “Nami’s Coconut Village Mandarin Soda” will be available from October 4, 2024.
“ONE PIECE” is a maritime adventure romance based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, which is currently being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump.” The story follows the protagonist, a boy named Monkey D. Luffy, who eats a “Devil Fruit” and gains special powers, as he forms the “Straw Hat Pirates” with his friends and sets out on an adventure to find the “One Piece” treasure, aiming to become the King of the Pirates.
The TV anime series, which began broadcasting in 1999, has been a highly popular long series, and in 2021 it finally surpassed 1,000 episodes. In 2024 it will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Many theatrical versions have also been produced, with the 15th film, “ONE PIECE FILM RED,” breaking 20 billion yen in box office revenue. In addition, numerous other media mix works such as games and related products have been produced, and related events are being held without interruption.
Kura Sushi has been holding a collaboration project to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the One Piece TV anime since September 6th. As part of the project, collaboration menus related to One Piece characters are being offered, and it has now been revealed that new special menu items will also be on sale: Mera Mera no Mi Ice Monaka and Nami’s Coconut Village Mandarin Soda.
The “Me-Me-Me-No-Mi Ice Cream Monaka” is an ice cream monaka with the motif of the “Me-Me-Me-No-Mi,” a devil fruit that once belonged to Luffy’s brother Ace and now belongs to Sabo. It features a design that seems to have jumped out of the anime, with a unique pattern reproduced.
Made with domestic glutinous rice, the monaka brings out its aroma and goes perfectly with the mango sorbet made with Alphonso mango puree. The sweetness of the glutinous rice brings out the rich flavor and aroma of the mango sorbet even more.
“Nami’s Cocoyashi Village Mandarin Orange Soda” is a product inspired by the mandarin orange fields of Cocoyashi Village, the hometown of Nami of the Straw Hat Pirates. It uses concentrated Unshu mandarin orange juice, so you can enjoy the sweet and sour taste and mandarin orange aroma. The drink comes in three different packages, which are served at random. It also comes with a Nami straw accessory.
