October 16th is “Boss’ Day.”
It was proposed in the United States in 1958 as a day to improve the relationship between managers and subordinates.
When we think of a boss in anime or games, we imagine a powerful enemy that stands in the way of the main character. The enemy that appears at the end of the story is called the final boss, and sometimes boasts a greater presence than the main character and his companions… Who is the most memorable of all these final bosses?
So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Who comes to mind when you think of a ‘final boss’ character?”
following on from last year. We received responses from 580 people during the survey period from October 3rd to October 7th. The gender ratio was about 35 percent male, 55 percent female, and about 10 percent gave no response, with more females than males. In terms of age group, the majority were young people, with about 55 percent under 19 and about 15 percent in their 20s.
