It has been announced that a collaborative exhibition project between “PSYCHO-PASS: Providence the Movie” and “Kabuki”, “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki no Tate”, will be held at the Minamiza in Kyoto from January 18th to February 2nd, 2025. Prior to this, on January 11th and 12th, there will be a performance of an original reading play “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki no Tate x Koekabu Enjoy Kabuki with Readings” by four gorgeous voice actors including Tomokazu Seki, Kana Hanazawa, Kenji Nojima, and Hiroki Tochi.
“PSYCHO-PASS” is an original anime series that depicts the struggles of detectives in a near-future society where the psychological state of humans is quantified and managed. The first season of the TV series was broadcast in 2012, followed by three seasons and four theatrical films.
“PSYCHO-PASS: PROVIDENCE” was released nationwide in 2023, the 10th anniversary of the series’ broadcast, as the culmination of the series, and drew much attention. The series has gained support from both men and women with its charming characters and unique worldview.
The latest “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki-no-Tate” is a collaboration exhibition between this work and kabuki. Original illustrations of the characters will be created dressed as kabuki characters that have a strong affinity with the individuality of each character. During the exhibition, they will be displayed as photo spots in the Minamiza stage and theater lobby, which can usually only be seen from the audience, along with kabuki costumes and props from each collaborative performance, and original merchandise will also be available.
In addition, prior to the opening of this collaborative exhibition, it was also revealed that “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki-no-Tate x Koekabu Enjoy Kabuki Through Readings” will be performed on January 11th and 12th. It will be an original reading play where you can enjoy classic kabuki in modern language, performed by four gorgeous voice actors: Seki Tomokazu as Kogami Shinya, Hanazawa Kana as Tsunemori Akane, Nojima Kenji as Ginoza Nobuchika, and Tochi Hiroki as Sugo Teppei.
Comments were also made by Seki, Hanazawa, Nojima, and Tochi in preparation for the event.
The performance of “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki no Tate x Koekabu Enjoy Kabuki Readings” at Minamiza in Kyoto will be held on January 11th and 12th, 2025, while “PSYCHO-PASS Kyoto Minamiza Kabuki no Tate” will be held from January 18th to February 2nd.
