Toei Animation’s subsidiary for Chinese content planning, Toei Animation (Shanghai), has released a preview trailer and a new key visual for the new anime “Flower Fairy – Magical Fragrance Debate,” which is their first co-production with Tencent Video, a major Chinese distribution company. Based on the TV anime “Flower Child Lunlun,” the work depicts a new story about a flower fairy.
“Lunlun, the Flower Child” is a TV anime that aired on TV Asahi for one year from February 1979. It depicts the journey of Lunlun, a girl who is a “flower child” with the blood of a flower spirit, along with Cato, a white cat who can speak human language, and Nuvo, a dog, as they travel around Europe in search of the “seven-colored flowers” that are necessary for the prince of Planet Flowernu to become the next king.
The magic used by the main character, Runrun, is modest, but for girls, it is a dream come true, as it allows her to change into any outfit she wishes. In addition, at the time the show was aired, overseas travel was not as popular as it is today, so the concept of traveling around the long-desired Europe was popular. At the end of each episode, the “language of flowers” associated with that episode is explained. This work is known as a masterpiece that allows you to fully enjoy the “exciting feeling,” a word that was coined from the show.
“Flower Fairy – Magical Incense Debate” is a TV anime that depicts a new story of a flower fairy that incorporates modern trends while inheriting the memories and background of “Flower Child Lunlun.”
The story begins when Rumi, a young girl apprentice at a handmade perfume studio, is attacked by a black mist on her way home, and is guided by a black cat who calls himself an emissary of the planet Flowernu, awakening the power of the flower key, an antique left by her ancestor, and transforming into a flower fairy.
The rainbow flowers have been infected by dark magic and have withered, and the seven petals have been scattered all over the Flower City, causing abnormal phenomena and corroding people’s hearts. In order to protect the Flower City, Rumi, who inherits the bloodline of the Flower Children, is tasked with purifying and collecting the petals. She will use the magic of the flower’s scent to dispel the darkness in people’s hearts and begin her journey of growth as a magical girl.
However, during this adventure, Rumi is attacked by another mysterious flower child and discovers that the black cat beside her also has an unexpected true identity.
Based on the TV anime “Flower Child Lunlun,” “Flower Fairy – Magical Incense Debate” depicts a new story about a flower fairy.
