ABEMA, the new TV of the future, is holding the largest anime festival, the ABEMA Anime Festival, during Silver Week in September 2024. On September 16th, the “GOALOUS5” 5th Anniversary Special Talk Stage, which commemorates the 5th anniversary of the start of the “GOALOUS5” operation, the ABEMA Anime Festival Special Stage for “NEXT GENERATION TOKYO”, and the anime screening of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V: The Goddess of Fertility” were held, with special talks by a star-studded cast.
This stage was to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the start of the operation of “GOALOUS5”, a group consisting of Kentaro Kumagai, Shohei Komatsu, Junta Terashima, Shugo Nakamura, and Toshinari Fukamachi, which aims to conquer the world. The members deepened their interactions with the fans who came to the venue through image surveys of the members and a traveling version of “Evil Advice Room” that is held on their YouTube channel.
At the end of the event, it was also announced that the title of the sixth theme song would be “Sixy.” “Sixy” is a combination of the words “6” (six) and “Sexy,” signifying the sixth song and sixth year. When part of the song was unveiled, the audience erupted in cheers.
“NEXT GENERATION TOKYO” is a special live stage where the next generation of singers who are often talked about on social media and in the media gathered. First, Kohana Ramu, who has over 600,000 subscribers on YouTube and is also a hot topic on social media for her “emotional voice that makes you cry when you listen to it,” performed “I can even love myself in love,” the ending theme for the second season of the TV anime “My Dangerous Girlfriend.” She also sang “The Color of the Sky I Saw Someday,” which was being performed for the first time, and captivated the audience with her charming voice.
Next, Nanami, who is famous as a member of the “new generation of impersonators,” appeared with Ado’s “I am the Strongest,” a song from the movie “ONE PIECE FILM RED.” She then sang a medley of eight songs, including Shiina Ringo’s “Crime and Punishment” and Nakashima Mika’s “Yuki no Hana.”
Ryoji Zaib, whose short videos have been viewed a total of approximately 200 million times on YouTube and are a hot topic both in Japan and overseas, showed off his overwhelming singing ability by performing a total of eight cover songs, including “Make Your Dreams Come True, Doraemon,” the theme song for the TV anime “Doraemon,” and “Limit Break x Survivor,” the theme song for the second season of the TV anime “Dragon Ball Super.”
Lastly, MINA, a next-generation artist who has over 2.8 million followers on social media and is attracting attention from both inside and outside of Japan, appeared on stage. She performed a total of four songs, including her original songs “Tenjo Tenge Yuigadokuson” and “Kimi ni Iineshita,” which were full of the sound that only a bassist can have, and closed out the passionate performance.
Also on the day, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku held an anime screening with talk show featuring the star-studded cast. At the
screening of the anime “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon V: The Goddess of Fertility,” which begins in October, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, who plays Bell Cranel, Ishigami Shizuka, who plays Syr Flova, and Shimazaki Nobunaga (the kanji for “zaki” is “tatsusaki”), who plays Hedin Selland, took to the stage to hold the first domestic screening of episodes 1 and 2. In addition, the cast members held a special talk, looking back on the advance screening and talking about scenes to look out for.
