“Blue Lock Epi Nagi” the Movie will be broadcast on terrestrial TV for the first time on October 5th! To celebrate the broadcast of the second season “VS. U-20 JAPAN”

The second season of the TV anime “Blue Lock”, “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN”, will be broadcast as the first work of TV Asahi’s new anime time slot “IMAnimation” from midnight on October 5th. To commemorate this, it has been announced that “Blue Lock the Movie -EPISODE Nagi-” will be broadcast on terrestrial TV for the first time from 10pm on October 5th, just before the season.

“Blue Lock” is a TV anime based on the manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, which is currently being serialized in Kodansha’s “Weekly Shonen Magazine” and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide as of August 2024. The story follows high school forwards gathered in “Blue Lock” as they aim to become the world’s best striker, risking their soccer careers and goals in a knockout contest.

The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2022 to March 2023, and the first movie version, “Blue Lock: Episode Nagi,” was released in April 2024. In the second season, “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN,” the 35 people who survived the harsh selection process will face off in the most crazy big match in history against the U-20 Japan National Team, with the survival of the “Blue Lock” project at stake.

In addition to the familiar characters from the first season, such as the protagonist Kiyoyoichi (CV: Urawa Nozomi) and Hakuraku Kaito (CV: Kaito Tsubasa), the second season will also feature new characters such as the ace of the U-20 Japan national team, Sendou Akito (CV: Wakayama Akihisa). With the concept of “I want to see it now! I should see it now!” and “Imaginative” works, this ambitious work is worthy of being the first work in the newly established TV Asahi anime slot “IMAnimation,” which was created with the desire to have many people enjoy popular anime works.

To commemorate the broadcast, it has been decided that “Blue Lock the Movie: Episode Nagi”, which will be broadcast on terrestrial television for the first time, is the first film adaptation of the spin-off manga released in April this year, starring one of the series’ most popular characters, Nagi Seishiro (voiced by Shimazaki Nobunaga, the kanji for “zaki” means “tatsusaki”).

The story begins when Nagi Seishiro, a high school sophomore who lives a listless school life and always says “it’s bothersome,” is invited by his classmate Mikage Reo (voiced by Uchida Yuuma), who dreams of winning the World Cup, to start playing soccer after discovering his talent for soccer. Eventually, Nagi, who is impressed by his exceptional soccer skills, receives an invitation from the “Blue Lock Project.” There, he meets strikers from all over the country, including Kiyoyoichi, Hachiraku Mawaru, and Itoshi Rin (voiced by Uchiyama Kouki). Thus, the battle at Blue Lock is depicted from the perspective of the solitary genius striker Nagi Seishiro.

As soon as it was released in April this year, it became a hot topic on social media, with comments such as “I enjoyed it even though I hadn’t read the original work!”, “I ended up watching every episode of the anime that I hadn’t seen before lol”, and “I was excited to see how Nagi, who was indifferent to everything, started to become interested in soccer!”. There are also many exquisite hints that lead to “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN”, so there is no doubt that expectations for the second season will grow.

“Blue Lock: Episode Nagi” will be broadcast for the first time on terrestrial TV on the TV Asahi network from 10pm on October 5th. After that, the second season of the TV anime “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN” will start at midnight on the new TV Asahi anime time slot “IMAnimation”. Let’s get excited about “Blue Lock” on October 5th.
