Kyoto souvenirs for the TV anime series “Oshi no Ko” will be available at the Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2024 (KyotoMaf), which will be held on September 21st and 22nd. They will include fresh yatsuhashi and castella cakes that are unique to Kyoto.
The TV anime “Oshi no Ko” is based on a manga by Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo, which has sold over 18 million copies. The story begins when Goro, an obstetrician-gynecologist working in a provincial city, meets Ai, an idol from B-Komachi, his favorite idol group. The TV anime began airing in April 2023. The second season began airing in July 2024.
At the Nekokusa booth at “Kyoto Magic 2024”, there will be a lineup of Kyoto souvenirs in collaboration with the film. Two types of fresh Yatsuhashi, one type of egg castella cake in a paulownia box from Pieyon, and one type of Kyoto’s Oshi Arare will be on sale in advance.
Acrylic charms are randomly included with the “Strawberry Bean Paste Fresh Yatsuhashi ~B Komachi~” and “Uji Matcha Bean Paste Fresh Yatsuhashi ~Tokyo Blade~”. The packaging featuring the characters is also attractive, making them perfect souvenirs for fans. The event-only price is 1,500 yen each.
“Pieyon’s Egg Castella in a Paulownia Box” is a collaboration castella with Sangenan, a long-established store in Fushimi. It is baked by a craftsman who has inherited the tradition of castella creation, and comes in an original paulownia box with a sticker. The event-only price is 3,000 yen.
“Kyoto’s Oshi Arare – with a charm” is a collaboration with Shihoken, a long-established Kyoto Arare store. This item features cute heart-shaped Arare and a randomly-enclosed charm. The event-only price is 1,300 yen (including tax).
The above products will be available for general sale from 12:00 on September 23rd after the pre-sale at Kyomafu. They will be sold at the Nekokusa online store and at events.
