The movie “Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege” will hold a limited-time collaboration event with Seibuen Amusement Park called “Gegege Amusement Park” from October 15th. Details of the event have been announced.
The completely new film “Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege,” a commemorative work for the 100th anniversary of the birth of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, is a feature-length film based on the sixth season of the TV anime and depicts the origin story of the series surrounding the birth of Kitaro. It depicts the encounter between Kitaro’s father, the former Medama Oyaji, and the human Mizuki, and the fate that the two face, and won the Excellence in Animation Award at the 47th Japan Academy Awards.
A special edition of the film, “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege – The Real Version,” with improved visuals and sound, is scheduled for release on October 4th. The real version includes 327 retakes of scenes, and the horror scenes envisioned in the storyboards have been restored. The sound has also been re-dubbed to express “the horror story that the production team originally envisioned.”
“GeGeGe no Kitaro” comes to Seibuen Amusement Park. Office worker Mizuki is invited to Seibuen Amusement Park, where he is a client, and together with Kitaro’s father who just happened to show up, a collaborative event called “GeGeGe no Amusement Park” is held, taking place in the Showa era, the setting of the work.
