Well said, Zain! A famous scene that united fans of “Funeral of Frieren”: A heartfelt cry to the two indecisive people: “Just go out already!”

The highlight of episode 17 of the anime “Furieren’s Funeral” is the line uttered by the monk Zain (voiced by Nakamura Yuichi) that makes you want to imitate him. His cry for a man and woman in a frustrating relationship has been met with a flood of sympathetic voices online.

The currently streaming anime “Furieren: The Funeral of Frieren” is based on the manga of the same name, which is currently being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday” by author Yamada Kanehito and illustrator Abe Tsukasa. Set in a world “after” the Demon King has been defeated, the story follows the magician Frieren as she experiences separation from her companions and sets off on a “journey to get to know people.” When the first season of the TV anime aired from September 2023 to March 2024, it was so popular that many related words trended on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode. The long-awaited second season has also been decided, and further news is awaited.

In episode 17, Stark (voiced by Kobayashi Chiaki) and Fern (voiced by Ichinose Kana) get into a fight. In order to reconcile the two, Zain talks to each of them. When Zain asks “Do you hate Stark?” Fern looks puzzled and says “Why are you asking me that? Does it seem that way?”

Afterwards, Fern and Stark made amends, saying, “Be nicer to me,” and “I’m sorry…” Zain, who witnessed the exchange, later shouted, “Let’s just go out together already!!!”

Although they seem to like each other, the relationship between Fern and Stark is not progressing. Zain’s true feelings towards the two of them have been met with a stream of sympathetic voices on X (formerly Twitter), such as “I know,” “You’re right, just get together already lol,” “You said exactly what I wanted to say, word for word,” and “Thank you for saying it!”. Some people have even said, “The Zain in my heart is screaming, ‘Just get together already!'” to couples that appear in other works, and it seems that Zain’s lines have already jumped out of “Furieren’s Funeral” and are loved by many.
