It has been announced that voice actor Toru Furuya will be stepping down from his role as Yamcha in the Dragon Ball series. Starting with the first episode of the fall anime Dragon Ball DAIMA, which will begin airing on October 11, 2024, Ryota Suzuki will take over the role of Yamcha.
Suzuki Ryota is a voice actor born on December 22nd in Aichi Prefecture and raised in Chiba Prefecture. He has played many characters, including Isami Ao in the TV anime “Yuki Bakuhatsu Burn Braveburn” directed by Ohbari Masami, Ishigami Yu in “Kaguya-sama: Love is War”, Nanami Ryusui in “Dr. STONE”, and Hiiragi Toma in “WIND BREAKER”.
His nickname is the single hiragana character “su”. He recently appeared in the anime song live event “Animelo Summer Live 2024 -Stargazer-“, where he sang “Portrait of the Twin Flames” as Isami.

The character Yamcha makes a living by stealing valuables from people who wander into his house. He calls himself “Hyena Yamcha”. He attacks Goku and his friends as they search for the Dragon Balls, and their relationship develops into something of a rivalry.
He also works with Goku and his friends to collect the Dragon Balls, and later he hits it off with Bulma and starts living in her house.
On June 22, 2024, Toru Furuya announced through Aoni Production, the company he is affiliated with, that he would be stepping down from his roles as Sabo in the TV anime One Piece and Amuro Toru in Detective Conan. The role of Sabo was chosen to be played by Miyu Irino, and Sabo has already appeared in the TV anime. His
departure from the role of Yamcha was not included in the original announcement.
