October 8th is “Towa Day.” The
8th is a commemorative day derived from the pronunciation of “towa” (eternity), which sounds like “to (10) wa (8).”
Although humans cannot live forever, there are many anime titles in which characters who are free from the constraints of time play an active role. There are various ways in which characters can be portrayed, such as being able to freely travel between the past and future, looping the same time over and over again, or having abilities related to time .
So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “What comes to mind when you think of ‘time leap’ anime?”
following on from last year. We received responses from 561 people during the survey period from September 26th to September 29th. The gender ratio was about 35 percent male, about 55 percent female, and about 10 percent gave no response, with more females than males. In terms of age group, the majority were young people, with about 55 percent under 19 and about 15 percent in their 20s.
