Voice actor Reiji Kawashima posted a question about mouth ulcers to fellow voice actors on his X (formerly Twitter). When he asked for replies, he received comments from many voice actors, including Tomokazu Sugita, Jun Fukuyama, and Nobuhiko Okamoto.
Reiji Kawashima is a voice actor affiliated with Aoni Production. He has played many characters, including Fushi in “To Your Eternity,” Finn Ames in “Mashle,” Asano Taiyo in “Operation Yozakura,” and Shichisei Ken in “Touken Ranbu Online.” He won the Newcomer Actor Award at the 16th Seiyu Awards.
On the Abema program “Seiyuu to Yoasobi,” they also performed the dance to “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” the opening song of the worldwide hit “Mashle.”
Reiji Kawashima updated his X. “Q. To the voice actors,” he wrote, not just tweeting, but posting a Q&A format of his concerns for each voice actor.
The message was something like, “I bit my lip and now I have a canker sore that’s constantly touching my canine teeth and hurting me, making it hard to talk. What do you voice actors do when that happens?” It’s
true that canker sores are always painful, so it’s easy to imagine that for voice actors who make their living using their voice, it’s a matter of life and death.
Voice actors gathered to hear Kawashima’s serious concerns, and various answers were given, including applying medicine, undergoing laser treatment, and mentally diverting the condition.
Tomokazu Sugita recommends a treatment in which the famous mouthwash “Isodine” is applied directly to the affected area with a cotton swab, “Bloody Scryde.”
By the way, Bloody Scryde is a technique used by Hyunckel in “Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai,” and it is a technique that pierces the target, that is, the mouth ulcer. Fans who know the original story responded by saying, “It looks so painful that it makes me laugh.”
On the other hand, there are also suggestions for mental solutions such as enduring the pain. Fukuyama Jun suggested self-hypnosis to make the feeling “feel good, not painful.” Kawashima responded, “Voice actors are crazy!!!!!” and fans unanimously commented, “That’s typical of Fukuyama lol.”
It seems that Nobuhiko Okamoto has also learned how to get used to having mouth ulcers. “If you keep mouth ulcers in a constant state, it will become the default,” he said, and even said that he would be “lucky” if he didn’t have mouth ulcers.
Kawashima responded with a normal, caring response, saying, “Nobu-san, please go to sleep.”
Shinohara Yu simply said, “Spirit.” Strong.
Speaking of mouth ulcers, laser treatment at hospitals is also common. Kaori Maeda said that she has laser treatment, and Kawashima was surprised, saying, “That guy can burn!?” Maeda continued, providing further information, “If you go to the dentist, they will burn it for you!”
At the time of writing, Kawashima’s post had been reposted about 5,320 times and had received about 73,000 likes, creating a huge buzz. As a result of this post, her number of followers has exceeded 29,000, and she has uploaded a cute photo of herself.
Other voice actors have also sent in their own solutions to mouth ulcers. Of course, general fans have also been sending in recommendations of medicine and psychological solutions. There have been
comments simply expressing surprise at the posts, such as “The replies section is too efficient, it’s scary,” “It’s full of scary replies lol,” and “Maybe if I read this, my mouth ulcers will get better…!?” It’s been an interesting turn of events.
Kawashima’s post is packed with solutions to mouth ulcers, which everyone has likely suffered from at some point, so if you’re currently suffering from them or if you suffer from them often, why not check it out?
