As the first collaboration between the TV anime “Tokyo Revengers” and Bose products, a newly drawn collaboration visual was released to coincide with the release of the new product “Bose QuietComfort Earbuds.” It depicts Takemichi (aka Hanagaki Takemichi), Mikey (aka Sano Manjiro), and Matsuno Chifuyu instantly returning to their time with the “power of sound.” There will also be a campaign where you can win a poster featuring this collaboration visual.
“Tokyo Revengers” is a TV anime based on the time-leap suspense manga “Tokyo Revengers” by Ken Wakui, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine” from 2017 to 2022 and won the Boys’ Division of the “44th Kodansha Manga Award.” It depicts Takemichi, a
former delinquent whose “prime time was in junior high school,” time-leaping back to his junior high school days 12 years ago after the death of the only girlfriend he had in his life during his junior high school days, and his attempt to get revenge on his life.
Not only has it been made into a TV anime, but it has also been made into a live-action film, a stage play, and other content, and a sequel to the TV anime has been decided. In addition, the launch of a new project called “Fairy Tale Revengers” and the implementation of a project to commemorate the anime’s 5th anniversary in 2025 have also been announced.
This first collaboration with Bose products was planned because the film, in which time travel is a key element of the story, shares a commonality with music, which has the power to vividly evoke emotions and memories of the time one listens to it and transport one to the past.
The collaborative visual, which was created with the message “Go back to those days in an instant with the power of sound,” features three characters: Takemichi Hanagaki, Manjiro Sano, and Chifuyu Matsuno. The three, all living today, are shown listening to songs they used to listen to a lot in 2005 when they were junior high school students through the “Bose QuietComfort Earbuds,” reminiscing about that time, with three different expressions on their faces.
Linked to that emotion, the appearance of the three and the background of Shibuya have been rewinded to the time when the story is set in 2005. The people in charge also provided comments revealing the background of the collaboration, their thoughts on the project, their attention to detail in the visuals, the reason for using the three, and the music they were likely listening to at the time.
In addition, X (formerly Twitter) will be running a submission project where fans can submit the names of songs and artists that have given them strength in the past along with their favorite visuals of the three. Fans can enter the lottery to win the newly released “Bose QuietComfort Earbuds” from October 10th and posters featuring the newly drawn collaborative visuals. They care about people and never give up on trying to understand each other. The charm of “Tokyo Revengers” is that their preciousness touches the heart.
BOSE’s brand tagline “Sound is Power” embodies the philosophy and reason for existence of encouraging people with the power of sound. The power born from the passion of the characters depicted in “Tokyo Revengers” and the power of sound that BOSE believes in. We believe that this collaboration, based on the “passion” shared by both parties, will be a driving force not only for BOSE users and Tokyo Revengers fans, but for many others as well.
Their pure and honest feelings and the emotional impact that music gives us – the combination of these elements gives us a real-life appeal that embodies the “Sound is Power” that Bose holds dear.
Takemichi, who is kind-hearted and easily moved to tears, empathizes with the lyrics and superimposes his own situation at the time. He listens to a lot of music, mainly J-POP. Mikey, who has overwhelming charisma, chooses songs on instinct, and as a result, prefers songs that are reminiscent of urban delinquents. Chifuyu, who has a straightforward personality and is supported by both men and women, prefers Japanese music that resonates with her unwavering beliefs… and so on, letting their imaginations run wild as they proceeded with the production.
The scenery in the background of the three is in fact the real Shibuya streetscape from 2005. Please enjoy the scenery as you watch the expressions of the three as they instantly remember themselves back then, with the power of sound from the “Bose QuietComfort Earbuds”. And while imagining the songs they are listening to, we hope you will also enjoy this visual by recalling your own favorite songs.
