It has been decided that the TV anime “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON” will be broadcast in 2025. There was also a surprise in the final episode of the seventh season, where actress Shida Mirai made her first appearance in “My Hero Academia” since the first movie, playing the role of All Might’s support item, “Hercule.”
“My Hero Academia,” also known as “Hiroaka,” is a hero action series by Kohei Horikoshi that was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” for 10 years and finally concluded in August 2024. Set in a world where the existence of people with supernatural abilities called “quirks” is commonplace, the story follows the protagonist, Deku, also known as Izuku Midoriya, as he grows up with his friends at Yuei High School, a prestigious school for training heroes, in order to become a “hero” who protects society and confronts “villains,” criminals who misuse their “quirks.”
The total number of copies of the comic series published worldwide up to the latest 41st volume has exceeded 100 million. Fans around the world who have witnessed the thrilling drama and battles unfolding with Deku and other characters have been expressing their gratitude and praise for Horikoshi and “My Hero Academia.”
The seventh season of the TV anime saw the final battle between the heroes and the villains. In addition to the fierce battles between the powerful “quirks” clashing with each other, the series also featured a confrontation between Deku and Shigaraki Tomura, who is pushing for the destruction of everything, the resolution of the past feud between Shoto Todoroki and his villain brother Dabi, aka Touya Todoroki, and the Todoroki family, as well as a true encounter between two girls, Ochaco Uraraka and Himiko Toga. These were just some of the intense dramas that unfolded and drew a huge response.
The final episode of the 7th season was a battle between the Demon King All For One, who had regained his powers from his prime by rejuvenating himself through “rewinding,” and “Armored All Might,” who is “quirkless” but wears a powered suit. All Might fights back with a suit equipped with the abilities of Class A’s “quirks” and support items. However, he is hurt by All For One’s mighty power… But he still stands up and calls out to Deku, “Let’s win!”, bringing the 7th season to a close.
The eighth season of “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON” has just been announced. The final chapter of the TV anime series will begin with the story from the 40th volume of the manga, and will move towards the conclusion of the battle between Deku and Shigaraki, and All Might and All For One.
The announcement video features Deku’s line, “This is the story of how we became the greatest heroes,” along with a FINAL SEASON teaser visual drawn by character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi and produced by Bones.
Will the story end as Deku said, or will there be a different meaning behind his words? Further information on when the series will air in 2025 will be announced at a later date.
In addition to the announcement of the FINAL SEASON, a surprise was also prepared for the 21st episode (No. 159) of the 7th season, the final episode, “Battle Without Quirks,” which aired today. “Elcules,” the powered suit and support item that All Might wears to fight All For One, was voiced by actress Shida Mirai, All Might’s partner who carries out All Might’s orders and instantly activates his onboard weapons.
Hercules is an original character that appeared in the first movie, My Hero Academia: The Movie: Two Heroes, released in 2018, and was developed by Melissa, a scientist girl played by Shida. While the production team was discussing casting Hercules, original author Horikoshi suggested, “Since she’s the AI for the machine created by Melissa, why not ask Shida Mirai to play her?”, and this marks her first appearance in My Hero Academia in six years. Shida, who voiced the role of Hercules, answered questions in an interview conducted on-site immediately after the recording.
All Might fights alongside Hercules against the Demon King All For One. The continuation of this battle will be depicted in the FINAL SEASON. Let’s look forward to the broadcast of the TV anime “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON” in 2025.
