As the saying goes, “seven herbs of autumn,” autumn is the season to see wild plants.
In recent years, people who are shy when it comes to romance, or who are gentle and dislike conflict, are sometimes called “herbivores.” Characters who fit the term “herbivores” often appear in anime as well. Herbivores come in a variety of types
, from those who are always passive, who never express their desires, to those who actually eat grass .
So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled, “What comes to mind when you think of a ‘herbivorous’ character?” The survey was conducted between September 30th and October 4th and received responses from 102 people. There was an almost equal ratio of men and women. The age group was mostly young people, with around 30 percent under the age of 19 and around 25 percent in their 20s.
