“Hello Kitty Exhibition” – Kitty collaborates with the beauty portrait and the wind and thunder gods ♪ Also the first-ever one-day director of the Tokyo National Museum

The exhibition “Hello Kitty Exhibition – When I Change, Kitty Changes” commemorating Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary will be held from November 1, 2024 to February 24, 2025. Details of the largest-ever exhibition of merchandise and collaborative works have now been revealed.

The exhibition “Hello Kitty – When I Change, Kitty Changes” will feature a variety of displays unique to Hello Kitty, which were born from merchandise design.

The lineup includes a section where past goods are displayed on the wall, and a section that photogenically depicts the changes in Hello Kitty and fashion trends. Over 100 local Kitty items will be on display, showcasing the uniqueness of Hello Kitty, who can be close to anyone and anything.

In the exhibition’s original video work by video director Atsushi Makino, the exhibition will explain the changes in Hello Kitty’s design. It will reveal the secret of why Hello Kitty is able to change with the times.
In addition, 30 artists will create illustrations on the theme of “Me and Kitty.” This is also likely to be a work of interest.

The photo spot features a huge photo spot featuring not only Hello Kitty, but also other Sanrio characters such as My Melody, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi.

Since the exhibition is held at the Hyokeikan Tokyo National Museum, it has been decided to collaborate with masterpieces from the museum’s collection. Collaborations with works such as “Looking Back at the Beauty,” “Wind Gods and Thunder Gods Screen,” and “Otani Oniji III’s Edobei” will be introduced in the exhibition, and sweets and miscellaneous goods will be sold in the merchandise corner. There will also be many goods that can only be purchased at the exhibition.

During the exhibition, Hello Kitty will be the special ambassador for the Tokyo National Museum. She will also serve as the museum’s director for one day. The “Hello Kitty Exhibition – When I Change, Kitty Changes” will begin at the Tokyo National Museum, and is scheduled to move on to Okinawa from March to May 2025, Fukuoka from June to August, Kyoto from September to December, and Nagoya from December to February 2026.
