Sports Day in 2024 will be October 14th.
Formerly known as “Health and Sports Day,” this national holiday was renamed in 2020. The date has also moved from October 10th to the second Monday in October.
Sports is also a very popular genre in anime. From familiar sports like baseball and soccer to fictional sports that don’t actually exist, a wide range of sports are depicted to entertain viewers.
So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “What is your favorite sports anime?”
following on from last year. We received responses from 565 people during the survey period from October 1st to October 5th. The gender ratio was about 35 percent male, 55 percent female, and about 10 percent gave no response, with more females. In terms of age group, the majority were young people, with about 50 percent under 19 years old and about 15 percent in their 20s.
