October 17th is “Karaoke Culture Day.” This
day originates from the anniversary of the founding of the National Karaoke Business Association.

Karaoke, which originated in Japan, is also popular among anime fans. Many people enjoy singing theme songs, insert songs, and character songs from their favorite anime with their friends.

So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey, following on from last year, titled “What anime song gets the crowd going at karaoke?”
During the survey period from October 5th to October 8th, 648 people responded. The gender ratio was roughly equal, with about 50 percent men, 45 percent women, and about 5 percent not responding. In terms of age group, the majority were young people, with about 40 percent under 19, and about 15 percent in their 20s and 30s.
