A new unit, “HG 1/144 Murasame Custom,” will be added to the HG (High Grade) “Gunpla” plastic model kits of “Mobile Suit Gundam.” It will be released on October 19, 2024. It can also transform into MA form.
The Gundam series began with Mobile Suit Gundam, which began broadcasting in 1979. With its realistic depictions of warfare in which robots were treated as “weapons” known as “mobile suits,” meticulous scientific research, and complex, deep human drama, the series established the genre of “real robot anime,” which could not be described as a simple story of good versus evil, which had been the trend in robot anime up until that point. It sparked a major boom.
And “Gunpla” is a plastic model of a mobile suit. Since the birth of the “1/144 Gundam” in 1980, various products have been produced and shipped every day.
The newly released “HG 1/144 Murasame Kai” is a Gunpla model of the transformable mobile suit piloted by Mu La Flaga in the movie “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.” It is an
improved version of the Murasame that appeared in the previous movie “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY,” and while the basic frame and armament remain the same, the shape and transformation mechanism have been significantly updated.
By replacing special parts, the unit’s unique feature, the Mobile Armor (MA) form, can be transformed into a reality. After assembling it, you can display it in your favorite form.
In order to beautifully express the silhouette of the fighter plane, the transformation mechanism has been omitted. By replacing parts, the MA form can be reproduced.
The beam rifle’s foregrip can be stored and deployed, and in MA mode the rifle can be attached to the main wing.
The paintwork has been carefully done down to the smallest details, including accent colors on the whole body and the color-coded head, with parts divided into different parts.
Furthermore, because it is a mass-produced model, it is possible to recreate formation combat maneuvers by arranging multiple units together. It would be an impressive sight to see both the MS and MA forms lined up together.
“HG 1/144 Murasame Kai” will be on sale from October 19, 2024. The price is 2,750 yen (tax included).
