The work is based on the manga of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994 and was first adapted into a TV anime in 1996. In 2023, the staff and cast were renewed, and the new TV anime series began airing with the first season, a total of 24 episodes, in July, and the second season, “Kyoto Uprising,” began airing on October 3rd. For the second season, director Yuki Komada (Assistant Director of Blade of the Immortal) was appointed to depict a more fierce battle. Hideyuki Kurata (Made in Abyss) will continue to be in charge of the series composition.

In episode 24, while Kenshin and Misao are on their way to Kyoto together, Kenshin meets Eiji Mishima, whose brother was killed by Shishio’s group. Kenshin and Misao are trembling with rage when they see the tragic events in Shingetsu Village. A comment has also been received from the cast member Chiba. (The full comment is below.)

[Comment from Shoya Chiba]
I am very happy to be involved in the famous “Rurouni Kenshin”. I have personally read the original work. I
believe that he is the trigger for the brutality of Shingetsu Village and a symbol of one of the episodes that represents Shishio, so I did my best to play him. Although he
is a young boy, his feelings are genuine, so I tried to convey his desperation without making the performance shallow.
There were some impressive expressions that made me go “wow” so please look forward to it!
