It has been announced that the Blu-rays of the anime “Uma Musume Pretty Derby” series will be released in two consecutive months, with the theatrical re-edited version “Uma Musume Pretty Derby ROAD TO THE TOP” on January 22, 2025, and the movie version “Uma Musume Pretty Derby Door into a New Era” on February 19.
“Uma Musume” or “Uma Musume Pretty Derby” is a cross-media content by Cygames that has gained popularity through a wide range of developments, including games, anime, music, and comics. The story depicts a world in which “Uma Musume”, who inherit the names and souls of real racehorses that have produced famous battles, legendary races, and great records, live school life with their friends and trainers while aiming to conquer the Twinkle Series.
“Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Road to the Top” is a four-episode anime that began streaming in 2023 on the official Uma Musume YouTube channel, “PakaTube!”. The story focuses on the heated classic battles between the three strongest horse girls, Narita Top Road, Admire Vega, and TM Opera O. The re-edited
version, which added new scenes for theatrical screenings, was released in theaters nationwide for a limited period of two weeks from May 2024, to commemorate the release of the movie version of “Uma Musume: Pretty Derby: Door to a New Era.”
The movie “Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – Door into a New Era” is the first film adaptation of the series to feature a diverse cast of characters, including popular characters such as “Agnes Tachyon” and “Manhattan Cafe,” as well as the introduction of new character “Jungle Pocket” as the main character.
The film tells the story of a group of girls named “Jungle Pocket” who run in pursuit of becoming the “strongest,” and their rivals of the same generation. The deluxe edition is a luxurious two-disc set that includes character promotional videos, a non-credited opening, and an audio drama called “The Stars Continue to Rotate,” based on a novel that can only be read as an admissions bonus. As an audio bonus, it also includes a cast audio commentary that can only be heard here.
