In commemoration of Anime Day on October 22nd, a huge advertisement for Keroro Gunso the Movie, themed on “BIG LOVE ANIME Hulu” by online video streaming service Hulu, is currently being displayed on the wall of Shibuya Parkside Kyodo Building. In addition, a photo spot has been installed on the Shibuya Happy Board, where you can feel close to popular anime characters such as Itadori Yuji (Jujutsu Kaisen), Nekoneko (The Apothecary Diaries), Okumura Rin (Blue Exorcist), and Kiyotaka Seiichi (Blue Lock).
Since Japan’s first full-length color animated film, “Legend of the White Snake,” was released on October 22, 1958, Japan has continued to produce a variety of masterpieces of animation. In recent years, popular manga and novels have been made into anime and have attracted a lot of attention, such as “Jujutsu Kaisen,” an anime based on a manga that boasts a total of 100 million copies in circulation, including digital versions, and “The Apothecary Diaries,” an anime based on a light novel in which a poison taster girl solves various difficult cases in the harem.
Japanese animation is now receiving high praise and interest not only in Japan but also overseas. It has also sparked interest in Japan among foreigners, and in recent years, many foreign tourists visit Japan on “pilgrimages” to the locations featured in anime and manga. In order to further spread the appeal of Japanese animation to the world, October 22nd, the release date of “The Legend of the White Snake,” which can be said to be the beginning of Japanese animation, has been designated “Anime Day.”
The latest initiative by Hulu is based on the theme of “BIG LOVE ANIME Hulu” to celebrate Anime Day and promote the animation culture beloved around the world. A 15-meter-long super-large advertisement for “Keroro Gunso the Super Movie” is being displayed on the wall of the Shibuya Parkside Building.
Furthermore, Shibuya Happy Board has started displaying giant panels featuring popular anime characters that are sure to attract attention this fall, such as Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the anime “Jujutsu Kaisen,” whose original manga just concluded at the end of September this year, and Nekoneko from “The Apothecary Diaries,” which is celebrating its first anniversary since its TV broadcast began and is preparing for its second season. Also depicted are Okumura Rin from “Blue Exorcist: Yukinoha Arc,” which has been airing since October, Kiyoyosi from “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN,” Sakuragi Mano from “The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors 2nd season,” and Echizen Ryoma from “The New Prince of Tennis U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL.”
In addition, characters from many other works are gathered, making it a great chance to feel closer to the characters you always watch. All the popular anime works listed this time are now available on “Hulu”. With our “BIG LOVE” for anime, we want you to enjoy anime to the fullest on “Hulu”.
