From “Sumikko Gurashi”, new items with the theme “Sumikko Drawing” will be released, depicting the daily lives of Sumikko in a sketch style. Don’t miss the designs that are perfect for the autumn of art.
“Sumikko Gurashi” is a San-X character series based on the theme of “When you’re in a corner, you somehow feel calm.” The slightly negative but unique characters and worldview have fascinated people of all ages, from children to adults, and celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022.
The first animated feature film, “Sumikko Gurashi Movie: The Pop-up Picture Book and the Secret Child,” was released in 2019. The second film, “Sumikko Gurashi Movie: The Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night,” was released in 2021, and the third film, “Sumikko Gurashi Movie: The Mysterious Child of the Patchwork Factory,” was released in 2023. The first stage play, “Puppet Musical Sumikko Gurashi: The Pop-up Picture Book and the Secret Child,” was performed on August 16, 2024.
The new items, based on the theme of “Sumikko Drawing,” are sketches of the Sumikko’s daily lives. They are depicted with a soft touch, depicting the Sumikko’s daily lives as they lie around, squish, and spend their time however they like.
The “Sumikko Drawing” themed lineup includes stationery such as “clear folders” (2 types in total), “pen pouches,” and “letter sets,” as well as items that are easy to use in everyday life, such as “tote bags,” “drawstring bags,” “mugs” with cute uneven designs, and “pouches” that are convenient for storing stationery and cosmetics.
There are also Sumikko-like items such as the “Sumikko Charm Collection” (12 types/random) that you can attach to your bag, the “Downturned Sumikko Mascot” (3 types) with its cute round pose, and the “Tsuresari Mascot” (6 types) that you can hang up and carry around.
Each item will be available at retailers and online stores nationwide from early October. A short video is also available now.
