ABEMA, the new TV of the future, is holding the biggest anime festival, the ABEMA Anime Festival, during Silver Week in September 2024. On the first day of the event, September 14th, there was an ABEMA Anime Festival special stage with “Kenichi Suzumura’s Radiobase DUO,” “Blue Lock Broadcasting Room,” and “Hologoe!”, as well as anime screenings of “You Are the Underworld” and “Little Citizen Series,” and special talks were held by a stellar cast.
The first act to be performed on the “ABEMA Anime Festival” stage was the radio show “Suzumura Kenichi’s Radiobase DUO,” hosted by Suzumura Kenichi. In addition to Suzumura, Maeno Tomoaki appeared on stage as a guest. They had a three-minute discussion on topics such as “Anime you want to see remade” and “What you like most about each other,” as well as “I love it! I love it!! Guest teacher!”, in which Maeno became a teacher and talked about his “love for baseball games.”
In a segment titled “Radio Beki DUO Real!”, the two tried to win over the heroine of the show’s original love simulation game, “Radio Beki DUO Real”. They performed skits in situations such as a first date, a school trip, and a Christmas party to win over the heroine, Rajizaki DU Ori, and livened up the stage.
Next, on stage for the Abema special program “Blue Lock Broadcasting Room,” Nozomi Urawa (role of Kiyoyoichi), Tsubasa Kaito (role of Hachiraku Mawari), Kouki Uchiyama (role of Itoshi Rin), and Shugo Nakamura (role of Gagarumaru Gin) appeared. Itoshi Rin and Gagarumaru Gin, who are said to be important characters in the second season starting in October, were explored in depth, and Uchiyama and Nakamura spoke about their thoughts on the characters and how they prepared for their roles.
They also answered questions from the audience, and in a section called “Do the Cast and Fans’ Thoughts Match? Matching Blue Rock Returns,” they tried to see if the cast and fans’ images of the characters matched, and the four enjoyed the stage together with the audience. In addition, a serious buzzer quiz battle for “Blue Rock” was held between the pair Ura and Kaito, and the pair Uchiyama and Nakamura, and the whole venue was filled with excitement at the heated battle, full of ego (!?).
The final stage of the day was the stage for “Hologoe!”, an original regular program on “ABEMA” that features a unique collaboration between VTubers (talents affiliated with Hololive Productions) and voice actors. Friday regulars Takamine Rui and Kusunoki Tomori, as well as guest Omaru Polka, appeared on stage. As this was the program’s first offline event, the venue and viewers were filled with excitement from the opening.
On this stage, the trio performed in a quiz called “Detective Tomoriru! VS Detective Rui-nee! VS Detective Polka!”, where they unleashed their powers of deduction to try to solve difficult cases, and “Hologoe! Ranking Check”, where they tested whether the trio had “top-notch eyes”. There were also cooperative games with fans at the venue, which are unique to this event. In the popular “Hologoe! Dungeon 2” event, where participants answered questions to try to clear a dungeon, the audience also took part in the quiz, and there was also a “Hologoe! Audience XX Survey”, where questions were posed to the audience, with the goal of reaching a certain number of people, allowing the participants to enjoy interacting with the fans.
On the day of the event, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku also held an anime screening with talk show featuring the star-studded cast. The screening of the new anime series Kimi wa Meido-sama, which will begin airing in October, featured the four main cast members Kumagai Toshiki (playing Yokotani Hitoyoshi), Iida Hikaru (playing Yokotani Ririko), Lynn (playing Grace), and Inagaki Yoshimi (playing Hikage Naka). Prior to the broadcast, the first and second episodes were shown in advance, and a cast talk was also held. The latest information on the anime was also announced, including the fact that the 0P theme song will be “Otozure” by tricot, and the ending theme song will be “Ekigen Dyadai” by DUSTCELL.
Also, at the screening of “Little Man Series,” Umeda Shuuichirou (role of Kobato Tsunegoro), Hitsujimiya Hina (role of Osanai Yuki), and Furukawa Makoto (role of Dojima Kengo) appeared on stage. An audio commentary was given looking back at the famous scenes from the first season, and they talked about a lot of behind-the-scenes stories from the dubbing.
