It has been announced that “Purecle Touken Danshi”, a new project based on the PC browser and smartphone app game “Touken Ranbu ONLINE”, will be launched, challenging pure and cool idols. A teaser visual and promotional video were released along with the announcement. It was also announced that the first 3D live performance of “Touken Ranbu” will be held in March 2025, and a tasting performance will be held prior to that.
“Touken Ranbu ONLINE,” also known as “TouRabu,” is a sword-raising simulation game for PC browsers and smartphone apps in which players, who become Saniwa (divine servants), lead “Touken Danshi,” famous swords transformed into warriors, and fight to protect history.
DMM GAMES and Nitroplus teamed up to launch the service in January 2015, and it has garnered a lot of support since then. It was also one of the factors that sparked a sword boom across the country. It has been a huge success in many media mixes, including anime, musicals, consumer games, stage plays, movies, and kabuki, and is taking the entertainment world by storm.
The newly launched “Pure Clear Touken Danshi” project will be centered around a virtual live music performance featuring 3D Touken Danshi, the first of its kind in the series. Through an interactive experience based on SNS, the project aims to become a part of everyday life and to spend time together. In the upcoming 3D live performances, the Touken Danshi will perform a cool performance while facing the stage in the guise of idols, creating a chemical reaction between pure and cool, creating a “Pure Clear” Touken Danshi.
The six swords that will start off the show are “Go”, including “Kotegire Go (CV: Hirose Yuya)” who aims to become a singing and dancing Tsukumogami, “Buzen Go (CV: Yashiro Taku)”, “Kuwana Go (CV: Ito Kento)”, “Matsui Go (CV: Toki Shunichi)”, “Satsuki Go (CV: Kano Sho)” and “Muragumo Go (CV: Eguchi Takuya)”. A teaser PV showing the sword boys transforming into idols has also been released, raising expectations for their new appearances and the immersive 3D live performance that will evoke unprecedented sensations.
The first large-scale 3D live performance of “Touken Ranbu” is scheduled for March 2025. Prior to that, it was also revealed that “tasting performances” where people can try out “Purecle Touken Danshi” will be held from October 22nd to November 4th at Shinagawa Stella Ball in Tokyo, and from December 18th to December 29th at Cool Japan Park WW Hall in Osaka. These tasting performances will include features that allow people to enjoy different elements at each performance, which is sure to attract attention.
