The TV anime “Wisteria of the Cane and Sword,” based on the cane and sword high fantasy action by Fujino Omori of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”, has reached its final episode, and the decision to produce a second season has been announced. A commemorative illustration by Sei Aoi, who is in charge of the illustrations of the original work, has also arrived.
“Wisteria of the Staff and Sword” is a school fantasy about “swords and magic” currently being serialized in “Bessatsu Shonen Magazine”, based on the original story by Fujino Omori of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” and dynamically drawn by up-and-coming manga artist Sei Aoi with beautiful illustrations.
Will, a young boy who enrolled in a magic academy aiming to become a full-fledged wizard, had a fatal weakness as a wizard: “he couldn’t use magic at all.” Will was met with cold stares from his classmates and teachers, and sometimes felt like giving up, but he pushed forward with a strong will. Even though he couldn’t use a wand, he picked up a sword and fought his way through a world where magic is supreme.
The TV anime based on this work was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara (the character is pronounced “Tsuchiyashi” below), who served as the action director of “Chainsaw Man”, with character design and general animation direction by Sayaka Ono of “Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon”, and music by Yuuki Hayashi of “Haikyu!!” and “My Hero Academia”. It was produced jointly by Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures and has been airing since July 2024.
The decision to produce a second season of the TV anime was announced on September 29th, following the final episode.
