October 1st is Glasses Day. The day
was established in 1997 by the Japan Council of Glasses-related Organizations, and is derived from the fact that the Chinese numerals “一００１” look like glasses.
There are many characters who wear glasses. Some of them look great in glasses, some have different types, and some have stories related to glasses…
So Anime! Anime! conducted its annual reader survey titled “Who’s the best character with glasses?”
The survey was conducted from September 20th to September 24th, and 1,343 people responded. The gender ratio was about 25 percent male, 65 percent female, and about 10 percent gave no response, with more females than males. In terms of age group, about 55 percent were under 19 years old, and about 15 percent were in their 20s, so most of the respondents were young.
