The synopsis and preview cuts of the first episode, “Shall we call it ‘heliocentric theory’?”, of the fall anime “Chi. -About the Earth’s Movement-“, which will be broadcast on Saturday, October 5, 2024, have been released.
“Chi. – About the Movement of the Earth” is a TV anime based on a manga by the young genius writer Uoto, who has won numerous awards including the Manga Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and tells the story of people who risk their beliefs and their lives to prove the heliocentric theory.
The story is set in a certain European country in the 15th century. In an era when the geocentric theory, which says that the Earth is the center of the universe and the planets revolve around it, was considered the truth of the world, and believing or researching anything that overturned that theory was a serious crime, the child prodigy Rafał learns of the possibility of the heliocentric theory through the words of the mysterious scholar Hubert.
He was called a genius by those around him and even considered himself a genius, but an uncontrollable and intense intellectual curiosity began to grow in him. “What on earth do I have to sacrifice to know everything about this world?” he asks, as he risks his own “knowledge,” “blood,” and even his life to prove the heliocentric theory. What fate awaits Rafał?
Episode 1: “Shall we call it ‘Heliocentric Theory’?” The
story takes place in a certain European country in the 15th century. A child prodigy named Rafał has been accepted into college by skipping grades.
He responded to the expectations of those around him and declared that he would major in theology, which was considered the most important subject at the time, but he was unable to abandon his passion for astronomy, which he had been passionate about for a long time.
One day, he meets a mysterious scholar named Hubert. Hubert had been tortured and imprisoned for touching upon a heretical taboo. He was researching a shocking “hypothesis” about the universe.
The first episode of “Chi. – About the Earth’s Movement -” titled “Shall we call it the ‘Heliocentric Theory’?” will begin airing on NHK General TV on Saturday, October 5th. The first episode will be the first and second episodes.
