The official X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and TikTok accounts of the voice actor volunteer group “NOMORE Unauthorized AI Generation” were launched on October 15, 2024. The intention of the published video is conveyed that “readings and songs that we do not remember, and even our voices themselves, are being published on the Internet and sometimes sold.” Voice actors Ryusei Nakao, Kouichi Yamadera, Yuki Kaji, Daisuke Namikawa, Jun Fukuyama, and others can be seen in the video.
In the video “NOMORE Unauthorized AI [Part 0]” posted on the official SNS account of “NOMORE Unauthorized AI,” voice actor Ryusei Nakao, known for his roles as Frieza in “Dragon Ball” and Baikinman in “Soreike! Anpanman,” appears. The video concludes with the message, “Please listen to the feelings of us voice actors.”
The YouTube video description begins with, “Readings and songs that we have no memory of doing, and our very voices, are being posted online and sometimes sold.” It continues, “Our voices are our business tools, our lives, and an important part of who we are as we have grown up together,” and calls for everyone to “think together about how to use this technology” regarding generative AI.
At the end of the video, a total of 25 voice actors were shown, including Yamadera Kouichi, Kaji Yuki, Namikawa Daisuke, Fukuyama Jun, Nakata Jouji, and Park Romi. Including Nakao Ryusei, a total of 26 voice actors appear in this video.
The video posted this time is titled “Part 0,” and the main part is scheduled to be released soon.
Speaking of the relationship between voice actors and AI, the voice actor agency Aoni Production (Aoni Pro) recently signed a partnership with CoeFont, which is an AI voice platform. They announced that they will develop a global strategy using AI voice technology. They will
create multilingual AI voices from the voice data of Aoni Pro voice actors such as Masako Nozawa and Banjo Ginga, and provide them for overseas platforms such as voice assistants.
In this project, CoeFont’s AI voice technology will be used to translate the voice data of voice actors into multiple languages, including English and Chinese. This high-quality AI voice will be provided and proposed mainly to voice assistants (e.g. Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant), robots and voice navigation-equipped products (e.g. Pepper, medical equipment), etc.
The AI voices produced through the collaboration between the two companies will not be provided for “acting” areas such as animation, dubbing of foreign language films, etc. They will create multilingual AI voices that exclude “acting” areas, and will appropriately separate the areas of AI voice technology and voice actors’ activities.
Also, Yuuki Kaji, known for his role as Eren Yeager in “Attack on Titan”, has launched a voice AI project called “Soyogi Fractal” to commemorate his 20th anniversary as a voice actor. A voice synthesis software called “CeVIO AI Bon Soyogi Talk Voice” has been developed that can freely speak in Kaji’s voice.
Regarding the sale of his own talk voice, Kaji commented on how to deal with AI, “AI is neither good nor evil as a technology. It all depends on the morals of the people who use it.” He went on to say, “That’s why I thought that by releasing ‘Bon Soyogi,’ which uses my voice, I could prove the ‘correct way voice AI should be.’ I hope that this decision will broaden the scope of all kinds of creativity and lead to the development of new forms of entertainment.”
