The currently streaming anime series Oshi no Ko is based on a hit manga by Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo, which has sold over 18 million copies. The story begins when obstetrician-gynecologist Goro (voiced by Ito Kento) is reincarnated as Aqua, the son of his beloved idol Ai (voiced by Takahashi Rie). After Ai is killed in front of his eyes, Aqua enters the entertainment industry to find out the truth behind the incident and get revenge. The first 11 episodes of the anime series will air in 2023, and the second season will air from July to October 2024. The third season is also scheduled to be produced.
Akane, who appears in a romance reality show with Aqua and others, is a 17-year-old actress belonging to the “Lalarai Theater Company.” She is known as a genius actor in the world of theater, but that is only in terms of acting. In the reality show where she has to act as “Akane Kurokawa” herself, she doesn’t know what to do and is unable to show her strengths.
Akane, worried and anxious, causes an unexpected accident during the filming of the show. This leads to a huge backlash from viewers, and Akane is forced to miss the recording. The controversy continues, and Akane even considers taking her own life, but thanks to Aqua, she is able to stay put. Thanks to the efforts of Aqua and her co-stars, the public’s attitude changes, and Akane decides to return to the show, which she had been absent from.
At that time, Akane decided to play a character to protect her “true self”, and she found out that the type of woman Aqua, who helped her, liked was the charismatic idol Ai. Akane, who was originally the type to profile her role in depth before acting, thoroughly researched Ai’s personality in order to act like her.
