In the third episode of the anime “Dandadan” that aired on October 17th, Momo Ayase’s (voiced by Shion Wakayama) grandmother, Hoshiko (voiced by Nana Mizuki), made an appearance. Many viewers were shocked by her youthful appearance, commenting, “She’s not the grandma I thought she was,” and “She’s too beautiful.”

The previous episode ended with Momo, who has the power to suppress curses, losing consciousness. In the latest episode, episode 3, “An Old Woman and an Old Woman Clash,” Takakura Ken (voiced by Hanae Natsuki), also known as “Okarun,” is transformed by the curse of Turbo Granny (voiced by Tanaka Mayumi) and goes out of control.
When Okarun, under the control of the curse, approaches Momo, Momo’s grandmother, Hoshiko, comes to her aid. Hoshiko looks wrinkle-free and is wearing bold clothes that show off her bare legs.
Seeing Hoshiko’s appearance, many viewers were surprised and commented online, “She looks so young!?”, “Grandma is so pretty”, “Hoshiko is so gorgeous!”, “She’s not the grandma I thought she was”, and “What is really going on with her beauty?”
The anime “Dandadan” is based on a popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, which is currently being serialized in “Shonen Jump+” (Shueisha). It is an occult supernatural battle and coming-of-age story about Momo, a high school girl born into a family of spiritualists, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic, who fights against various mysterious phenomena.

Okarun is transformed by Turbo Granny’s curse. He loses control of his powers and goes out of control, but just in the nick of time, Momo’s grandmother, Hoshiko, a spiritual medium, saves him. In order to break the curse, Momo and Okarun decide to play tag with Turbo Granny. Before the showdown, Hoshiko commands the two to train hard, but in the middle of it, Turbo Granny appears in front of Momo…
