“The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege” Father & Mizuki meet “Venom: The Last Dance”!? A unique buddy collaboration drawn by Tohru Yatabe ♪

The final chapter of the “Venom” movie series, “Venom: The Last Dance,” which will be released nationwide on November 1, 2024, will collaborate with the movie “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege – Real Version.” In conjunction with this, a specially drawn collaboration illustration by character designer Toru Yatabe has been released.

“Venom: The Last Dance” is the final chapter of the hit film series “Venom,” which has been loved around the world for its unique character with two personalities in one body. Advance screenings will be held on October 25th, 26th, and 27th, and the film will be released nationwide on November 1st. In
this film, Null, the symbiote god who knows the secret hidden by Venom, appears. He will confront Venom as the most vicious enemy in the series.

The collaboration with this work is the completely new movie “Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege,” a work commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki. Based on the sixth season of the TV anime, this feature-length film depicts the origin story of the series surrounding the birth of Kitaro. It depicts the encounter between Kitaro’s father, the former Medama Oyaji, and the human Mizuki, and the fate that the two face, and won the Excellence in Animation Award at the 47th Japan Academy Awards.

A special edition of the film, “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege – The Real Version,” which brushes up the visuals and sound of the film, has been released since October 4th. The real version includes 327 retakes of scenes, and brings back the horror scenes that were envisioned in the storyboards. The sound was also redubbed to express “the horror story that the production team originally envisioned.”

This time, the two works, which feature buddies with “non-human partners,” are collaborating. The unusual collaboration between human Eddie and extraterrestrial symbiote Venom, and Kitaro’s father, a descendant of the ghost tribe, and human Mizuki, will meet again as the “Most Evil Partner Autumn Festival 2024” since the collaboration video was released in September 2024.

This time, the strongest collaboration illustration drawn by character designer Toru Yatabe of the movie “Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege – Real Version” has been released.
The illustration drawn by Yatabe to support this collaboration for the “Most Evil Partner Autumn Festival 2024” features the buddies who fight passionately together in each work.

This is a shocking and exciting photo of two pairs of people who should never have met, meeting in the same world line. Kitaro’s father stares curiously at Venom, who has a grotesque appearance with sharp eyes and a creepy long tongue, and Mizuki, who looks at him with a puzzled expression, are very cute.

Also not to be missed are Venom, who accepts the gazes of the two with his usual “egocentric” expression, and Eddie, who looks as if he will be at the mercy of Venom at any moment.
The distance between the two buddies makes them repel each other at first, but the time they spend together deepens their bond, and the two films show a firm relationship of trust.

Yatabe, who worked on the illustrations, also said that the collaboration for the Most Evil Partner Autumn Festival 2024 was a good one.
“I never thought that Venom and Kitaro: The Birth of Gegege would collaborate! I was surprised when I first heard about it, but when I heard the catchphrase, “Our Partners Are Not Humans,” I thought, “I see!” Both works are hot stories about different buddies who rely on each other to save the world, so please enjoy Venom: The Last Dance and Kitaro: The Birth of Gegege, Real Version this fall,” he said in a message.

In “Venom: The Last Dance,” Eddie and Venom, who have saved the world as one, are told that “the world will be destroyed if we stay together,” and they throw themselves into a fierce battle against the greatest threat in the series.
Then, “Kitaro: The Birth of Kitaro – The Mystery of Gegege – Real Version” depicts the meeting between Kitaro’s father and Mizuki, and the fate of the two as they face the depths of overwhelming despair.
How will the ultimate buddy team end up in each story? Be sure to head to the theater this fall to see both films.
