It has been announced that “Sakanaction Yamaguchi Ichiro: Deepening “Chi.”,” a program that will allow viewers to enjoy the anime “Chi. -About the Movement of the Earth-” on a deeper level, will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 4:50 p.m. on November 2, 2024. Sakanaction’s Yamaguchi Ichiro, who will be performing the theme song, and Uoto, the original author of “Chi. -About the Movement of the Earth-,” will appear.
“Chi. – About the Movement of the Earth” is a TV anime based on a manga by the young genius author Uo Yutaka, who has won numerous awards including the Manga Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and tells the story of people who risk their beliefs and their lives to prove the heliocentric theory.
The story is set in a certain European country in the 15th century. In an era when the geocentric theory, which states that the Earth is the center of the universe and the planets revolve around it, was considered the truth of the world and believing or researching anything that contradicted this theory was a serious crime, the child prodigy Rafał learns of the possibility of the heliocentric theory from the words of the mysterious scholar Hubert.
He was called a genius by those around him and even considered himself a genius, but then an uncontrollable intellectual curiosity began to grow in him. “What on earth would it take to learn everything about this world?” he asked, risking his own “knowledge,” “blood,” and even his own life to try to prove the heliocentric theory. What fate awaited Rafał?
In this episode of “Sakanaction Yamaguchi Ichiro Deepening “Chi.”,” Sakanaction’s Yamaguchi Ichiro, who is the theme song for this work, will act as the navigator and talk with the original author Uo Yutaka. The two top creators in the music and manga worlds will discuss topics such as what inspired them to create “Chi.”, the appeal of the universe, what manga should be, and what anime songs should be.
Yamaguchi also covered the forefront of astronomy. He visited research facilities such as the National Astronomical Observatory and Super-Kamiokande, and explored the mysteries and fascination of the universe that have yet to be solved.
