Pierrot signs business partnership agreement with Korea’s RDCH, aiming to expand its work worldwide with the anime adaptation of “The Survival Chronicle of a Sword King in Another World”

It has been announced that animation production company Pierrot and Korean animation production company Red Dog Culture House (RDCH) have signed a business partnership agreement in August 2024 to jointly produce and invest in animations targeting the global market. The aim is to develop attractive works for the whole world.

Since its establishment in 1979, Pierrot has been an independent production company that has produced numerous video works, including long-running TV anime, theatrical films, and original video animations, both in Japan and overseas. Some of its representative works include “Magical Angel Creamy Mami,” “Yu Yu Hakusho,” “NARUTO,” “BLEACH,” “Kingdom,” and “Tokyo Ghoul.” In addition to video production, the company is also promoting the commercialization and business development of a wide range of content using its works and characters.

Red Dog Culture House is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It has participated in many high-quality animation projects, such as Netflix’s “Love, Death + Robots,” “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf,” “Dragon Age,” and Bilibili’s “Tian Guan Ci Fu Series.” Currently, the company mainly produces original animations based on web novels and webtoons.

Through this business partnership, Pierrot and RDCH have agreed to jointly produce and invest in animation through a production committee to be formed in Japan over the next three years, and to promote the distribution of attractive works around the world.

A cooperative framework has already been established between the two parties, and the first project of the business partnership will be the anime adaptation of RDCH’s popular webtoon “Latna Saga: The Survival Sword King” (original idea: Lim Kyung-bae, author: Kwon Soon-kyu, Studio K-hit, Japanese title: “The Survival of a Sword King in Another World”). Full-scale production of the work is scheduled to begin within this year. As for future projects, they are also considering adapting popular Japanese manga or original Korean webtoons into anime.

Regarding this business partnership, RDCH CEO Bae Ki Yong said, “This is a rare opportunity for us to demonstrate the capabilities we have cultivated so far, and we are very excited about it. We are also very honored to be able to start this partnership with our original IP, ‘Latna Saga: The Sword King.'”

Pierrot CEO Kennosuke Ueda said, “When I met the RDCH team, I was completely captivated by the high quality of the anime they produced and the personalities of the CEO and the team. RDCH and Pierrot are holding daily meetings to ensure that RDCH’s hit IP, Isekai Kenou, becomes the best animation possible. By combining our strengths, we will definitely make it an interesting work, so fans around the world, please look forward to it!” The future efforts of both companies will be closely watched.
