The TV anime “SHIROBAKO” will celebrate its 10th anniversary on TV on October 9, 2024. To celebrate this, a 10th anniversary visual by character designer Kanami Sekiguchi has been released. In addition, it has been announced that all episodes of the TV series will be available for free on YouTube starting at 9pm on October 9th.
“Shirobako” refers to the white boxed videotape used in the video industry, and is the first product that a creator gets when a work is completed. Compared to the sales packaging, which is made gorgeous with illustrations and photographs, a tape in a white box may seem plain. However, it is filled with the creators’ thoughts.
“SHIROBAKO”, the second installment of PAWORKS’ “Working Girls Series”, is an ensemble drama that depicts the daily life of the anime industry, centering on five dream-chasing girls who struggle to complete such a “Shirobako”.
The series focuses on the anime industry, weaving together stories of the troubles that occur every day, the conflicts and setbacks that come with creative work, and the unity and conflict that come with working as a group. It also depicts the success story of the five people as they pursue their dream together, and the hope they find beyond. The series aired from October 2014 to March 2015, and a sequel, the movie “SHIROBAKO,” was released in March 2020.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this series, a commemorative visual featuring Aoi, Mimzy, and Roro, drawn by character designer Kanami Sekiguchi, was released. In addition, to commemorate the 10th anniversary, it was also revealed that all episodes of the TV series will be available for free streaming on YouTube from 9pm on October 9th.
All 24 episodes will be released every Wednesday on the Infinite YouTube channel. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy Musashino Animation’s efforts at the same pace as when it was broadcast. In addition, before the release, the non-credited videos of the opening theme “COLORFUL BOX” and the ending theme “Animetic Love Letter” of the first season are now available.
Starting tomorrow, October 9th, manhole covers with a “SHIROBAKO” x “MUSASHINO” design will be installed in Musashino City, Tokyo, where the story is set. There are three designs in total, and they will be installed in the Musashisakai area.
Prior to the installation, a production presentation for the design manhole was held at the Musashino Clean Center Visitor’s Hall on October 4th, where the manhole was unveiled by the five cast members along with Musashino Mayor Yasuhiro Omino. Juri Kimura, Haruka Yoshimura, Haruka Chisuga, Asami Takano (the kanji for “taka” is pronounced “hashigo-daka”; same below), and Hitomi Owada also made comments.
In addition, to commemorate the 10th anniversary, the official “SHIROBAKO” X (formerly Twitter) is also holding a giveaway of clear files to attendees of the special commemorative screening of the movie version of “SHIROBAKO” “Henna Hanashi, 1st Anniversary Stage Greetings” held on February 29th this year. A total of 10 people will be selected by lottery, so fans should apply.
