From “Mobile Suit Gundam”, the soft vinyl mascot “MEGA CAT PROJECT Mobile Suit Gundam Nyantomo Big Mobile Suit Nyantam” Gundam and Char’s Zaku are now available. Pre-orders are currently being accepted on the online shopping site “AmiAmi”.
The Gundam series began with Mobile Suit Gundam, which began broadcasting in 1979. With its realistic depictions of warfare in which robots were treated as “weapons” known as “mobile suits,” meticulous scientific research, and complex, deep human drama, the series established the genre of “real robot anime,” which could not be described as a simple story of good versus evil, which had been the trend in robot anime up until that point. It sparked a major boom.
The newly released “MEGA CAT PROJECT Mobile Suit Gundam Nyantomo Big Mobile Suit Nyandamu” is a larger version of Megahouse’s soft vinyl mascot “Mobile Suit Nyandamu” series.
The familiar mobile suits that have appeared since the first film in the series, “Gundam” piloted by Amuro Ray, and “Char’s Zaku”, are incorporated into the “Nyandamu” design.
The large size of the figure gives it more detail and presence. The normally cool mobile suit is now fitted with cat ears and paw pads, and fits snugly into the cardboard box, making for a super cute soft vinyl mascot.
It is also possible to take Nyandam out of the cardboard box. I would love to see the scene where he goes, “Nyandam, here we go!”, not “Amuro, here we go!”, be recreated in cardboard.
The soft vinyl mascots “MEGA CAT PROJECT Mobile Suit Gundam Nyantomo Big Mobile Suit Nyantam” Gundam and Char’s Zaku are priced at 4,950 yen each (tax included). They are scheduled to be released in late April 2025. Reservations are currently being accepted on the online shopping site “AmiAmi.”
