[Video] The first ever Shikanoko live performance
This time, guests included Morikubo Shoutaro, Tenshinhan Dairou, Megumi Han, Sikabu’s Fujita Saki, Tanabe Rui, and Izumi Fuka from the popular anime “Shika no Koko no Koko Shitantan,” and they explored the appeal of the anime, as well as the first ever live performance of Shika no Koko. In addition, Iguchi Yuka appeared in the program’s specialty “Industry Deep Digging Connection” corner. This time, delivered in a public live broadcast of “ABEMA Anime Festival,” the largest anime festival presented by ABEMA, was delved into in front of the audience.
Firstly, in the “Shibuya Anime Special” corner, Megumi Han, who plays Kanoko Noko, Saki Fujita, who plays Toshi Torako, Rui Tanabe, who plays Toshi Anko, and Fuka Izumi, who plays Bashamame Meme from the hotly talked about anime “Shikanoko Nokono Kokoshitantan” appeared wearing matching T-shirts and talked extensively about the appeal of the anime.
Megumi Han, who plays Shikanoko Noko, says that the appeal of “Shikanoko Noko Shitantan” is its “freedom,” and explains the reason for this by saying, “It’s freedom in the sense that everyone can enjoy it however they want to interpret it,” “The moment Nokotan has horns, things are already a little strange,” “The fact that Shika is a high school student means that people can interpret it however they want,” “The tone of voice is also free, so there’s no point in speculating on how it ‘should be’,” and “The story moves forward ignoring previous settings.”
Fujita Saki, who plays Toshi Torako, said “horns,” and added, “Apparently there are a lot of antlers lying around in Nara Prefecture, so everyone should pick them up and take them home (laughs),” and “Also, apparently there are deer antlers lying around in people’s gardens in Takachiho and other places,” drawing laughter. When asked by show MC Haraichi Iwai, “Are you going to go to Hino for an event?” Fujita replied, “I’d like to go, though,” revealing that she has never been there, and Pan commented, “Unless Hino comes here (laughs),” drawing laughter. When guest Morikubo Shotaro retorted, “Hino isn’t that far away,” Pan replied, “I learned that it’s in Tokyo through this show…” and Morikubo, who is from Hachioji, gave him a scolding.
Tanabe Rui, who plays Toshi Anko, began by saying, “Although the deer is the main focus of the work,” but added that the appeal lies in the “older sister.” She passionately stated, “It’s no exaggeration to say that it’s a work in which the older sister works really hard.” “There are a wide variety of voices,” “You can see many different older sisters, but the older sisters are the best!”
Izumi Fuka, who plays Bashamame Meme, said she was attracted to the fact that the characters are “serious about deer,” and revealed the production team’s love for deer, saying, “There are no deer in Hino City, but I think it will make sense if deer appear in the future.” She also shared some exclusive information, such as “The deer whistle used in the film is made from a deer antler by the sound engineer,” and “It’s a deer antler that was given to us by a serious hunter.”
When Haraichi’s Iwai said, “There is no such sound effect, so we have no choice but to do it,” Pan said, “It’s only a deer, so we have no choice but to do it!”, and Haraichi’s Iwai said with a blush, “It’s embarrassing, it feels like an accident…” In addition, the program delivered a variety of content, including a public Shikanoko dubbing challenge and a live performance of the theme song “Shikairo Days.”
Iguchi Yuka appears in the program’s signature “Deep Digging into Industry Connections” corner. In this special edition, the audience is treated to a glimpse into the turning points of Iguchi’s life. Iguchi says she became obsessed with manga and anime when she was in elementary school, and that the show she was most obsessed with was “Boku no Chikyuu wo Mamotte.” When asked why, she said, “Reincarnation stories are popular in modern anime, but this is a heartwarming drama about reuniting people in the present world.” When it comes to anime, she says she likes “Ranma 1/2” and “Saiyuki,” and that her favorite character is “by far Zhu Bajie.”
In 2002, Iguchi, a junior high school student, participated in a voice actor audition for the first time in her life, which was being recruited by an anime shop-related company, and ended up passing as an alternate. She talked about her experience of “selling goods at the store and cosplaying as characters I wasn’t playing,” and “selling goods while playing them,” and “the training I went through was a little different from that of a voice actor.” Iguchi also talked about the struggles she faced at the time, saying, “I had never even been to a (voice actor) training school, so I didn’t know how to read a script or work on the microphone.”
Iguchi made her anime voice acting debut as Akari Usada in “Di Gi Charat Nyo” when she was in the third year of junior high school. “Even then, I didn’t know how to read the script or do microphone work, so Kyoko Hikami asked me, ‘Why don’t you come in an hour before and try interacting with me?'” she said, recalling an episode from her days as a rookie.
She also candidly spoke about what her seniors told her when she was chosen to play her first leading role as Amami Haruka in the popular anime “THE iDOLM@STER XENOGLOSSIA” in 2007, and the reasons for the huge success of her photobook, which was released in 2024.
